To Tweet Or Not To Tweet

I'm easily sucked into the latest new online thing. The old addictive personality/obsessive compulsive thing kicks in and I find myself becoming hooked to the New Thing. A few years back, it was MySpace which introduced me to the world of online social networking and blogging and then, when everyone jumped ship for pastures Facebook-ier, I followed along like the sheepy lemming type creature that I am (I wasn't convinced about it at first and, despite now being as hooked as everyone else, still think MySpace is the more flexible site but if there's no one left to socialise with then there's not a lot of point in staying there).

My main objection to Facebook was its lack of blogging facilities. Fortunately, thanks to this very site what you are reading these very words on, the blogging need is once again being catered for (and ta very much to all you lovely people of exquisite taste who read and leave comments - nobody likes an unread blog).

So now it appears that the next big thing is here as friends are beginning to tell me that I need to start Twittering. Like in the early days of Facebook, I remain unconvinced at the moment. Do I really need another way to be random and inane at people? Do I really enough to say on yet another social networky thingy? Would I just be saying the same stuff to the same people but just in a different place? Can't we all just go down the pub instead? I hear they have booze there. Crisps and peanuts too. I'm not gonna get a round in for everyone, though. Maybe if we had some sort of kitty that we each chuck a tenner into for starters. We can always top it up as we go along. As long as no one starts off by ordering a cocktail, that's just selfish. Yeah, you're right, maybe we just split off into smaller rounds. Easier that way...

So, in conclusion, anyone fancy a pint?

I don't really see myself as a Twitter person - never tried it and probably won't. I spend enough time on the internet with just the blog. And yes, I'd love a pint.

A pint? Absolutely! Twitter, though? I don't get it. I don't think I want to be THAT connected... and it all seems a bit inane to me. When I read peoples' Twitter messages on their sidebars, I always think, "Ummm... so? Did I really need to know you just had coffee? No, I did not. You CAN do some things without letting all of the Internet know, you know. Geez."

And yes, I do often have very long thoughts like that... sometimes I say them out loud. But I never Twitter them. Just sayin' ;)

Now, how 'bout that pint?

I Facebook, I blog, I respond to memes, but I draw the line at Twittering.
I'll take you up on the pint though. Make mine a Guiness.

I refuse to be suckered into Twitter. I honestly couldn't even tell you what that's supposed to be.

So yea on the pint.

Okay, I admit, I twitter. But not really. I only add things so that the voices in my head have somewhere to go. I rarely respond to anything I see from people I follow. I see it as a little logbook of my days for myself, mostly.

Because it's all about me, clearly.

So, in conclusion, everyone (except Vic - and don't worry, we just don't get it!) is a no to Twitter but all the ladies would like to go for a pint with the Baldy Fella. No real surprises there, then. I'll just nip to the bar...

One of my friends once twittered about an incredible bowel movement they had.

Enough said. Even I can't rise to the level of that extreme narcissism. Or want to subject others to it.
